Alexis Jeandet

IT Team – LPP/CNRS

I work at the interface between space instrumentation and plasma physics data analysis. After contributing to the digital electronics and flight software of the Low Frequency Receiver (LFR) on board Solar Orbiter, I now develop the open source SciQLop ecosystem : a suite of tools that simplifies access to and analysis of multi-mission in-situ data for the space plasma physics community. All my work is released under free software licenses.


Software & projects

  • SciQLop — graphical environment for exploring high-resolution in-situ satellite data. Built for fluid navigation through years of multi-mission data : virtual products defined in Python on the fly, shared event catalogs, embedded Jupyter console and a plugin system. Lead maintainer of the project.
  • Speasy — Python library providing unified access to plasma physics data (AMDA, CDAWeb, SSCWeb, CSA), with transparent local caching. A public cache service hosted at LPP speeds up requests for the whole community.
  • CDFpp — C++/Python library for reading NASA CDF files ; vectorized decoding, among the fastest CDF readers available.
  • SciQLopPlots / NeoQCP — SciQLop's graphics engine : interactive Qt/C++ scientific visualization with GPU rendering, able to display billions of points with no perceptible lag.
  • PRISM (R&D) — declarative, reactive GUI framework in modern C++, leveraging C++26 static reflection ; an exploration of a lightweight Qt alternative for scientific applications.

Space instrumentation

  • Solar Orbiter / RPW-LFR — embedded flight software, VHDL design (SoC on RTAX4000D FPGA) and associated test tools (SoCExplorer).
  • Mixed-signal electronics (analog / digital) for scientific instrumentation.

Responsibilities

  • Administrator of the LPP software forge : Hephaistos
  • Administration of the laboratory's Kubernetes cluster and the services it hosts (data servers, continuous integration), as well as a dedicated JupyterHub server with a compute GPU
  • Coordinator of the LoOPS network (software development in French academia)
