Equality mission

Promoting equality, fairness and inclusion within the laboratory

The LPP Equality Mission is part of the commitments undertaken by the CNRS, Sorbonne Université, École Polytechnique, and Université Paris-Saclay in favor of professional equality, diversity, and the fight against all forms of discrimination.

Our objectives

  • Promote equality between women and men at all career stages: recruitment, promotion, scientific and administrative responsibilities.

  • Prevent discrimination based on gender, origin, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other personal characteristic.

  • Raise awareness among all staff (researchers, engineers, PhD candidates, and support staff) through training sessions, information campaigns, and discussion forums.

  • Create a respectful and inclusive working environment that fosters the professional and personal development of everyone.

  • Encourage gender balance in scientific careers, particularly among younger generations, through outreach and science mediation initiatives.

Equality representatives at the LPP

The laboratory’s Equality Representatives serve as identified contact persons for any question or situation related to equality, diversity, or discrimination. They also relay institutional reporting and support mechanisms and participate in the equality networks of the LPP’s supervisory institutions.

Concrete actions

  • Participation in Equality Week and national initiatives (Science Festival, International Women’s Rights Day, etc.)

  • Integration of equality considerations into recruitment procedures, evaluation committees, and decision-making bodies

  • Monitoring gender-disaggregated data (applications, promotions, working time) with a view to evidence-based assessment and continuous improvement

  • Organization of discussion sessions or workshops on topics such as equality, everyday sexism, and work–life balance

A collective mission

Equality is everyone’s responsibility. Each of us can contribute, at our own level, to making the LPP an exemplary, inclusive, and respectful laboratory, where diversity is recognized as a strength and a prerequisite for scientific excellence.
